Upton upon Severn
Located in the south of Worcestershire, Upton upon Severn is a haven for boat enthusiasts with the River Severn playing an important role in attracting tourists to the pretty town. The first recording of the town is in 897 when King Coenwulf mentioned its foundation. It was an important coaching stop and the many Georgian Inns are a testament to this, notably the White Lion, which is said to be the model for parts of Henry Fielding’s ‘Tom Jones’.
Today visitors can take a boat trip up the river or enjoy a leisurely walk along the waterfront. There are many pubs in the town offering good food and real ales, along with a variety of restaurants.
Upton also has many delightful speciality shops for visitors to browse around.
Good accommodation can be found in and around Upton. Camping and caravanning is also a popular choice to stay and enjoy the many events Upton offers its visitors.
In the summer months the town comes alive with the variety of events held in the pubs and spread across the town. There is the Folk Festival in May, the Jazz Festival in June, the Blues Festival in July and the Music Festival in August.

The historic town of Upton upon Severn is a thriving town, a perfect specimen of a Severn River port and a place of beauty. Here you will find a mix of half timbered and Georgian buildings, whilst the bridge connects the town with the modern marina.
Visit the Heritage Centre in The Pepperpot, a church tower containing an exciting array of displays illustrating the growth and development of the town and its involvement during the Civil War in 1651. Displays also include The River & Upton origins, the Civil War and the Battle of Upton Bridge , Upton today, changing styles in architecture, life styles from the past and the floods. A fascinating account of Upton through the ages, all located in the oldest survivng building in the town.

Opposite the Heritage Centre is the Tudor House Museum which is also well worth a visit.
Exhibits of local history, pharmacy, cobbler, woodworkers, ceramics, clothes. Victorian bedroom, tailors shop and an old kitchen. Also an interesting parish oven which once cooked all the bread for the town.
Open: 14.00 - 17.00 until end of October
Nov. Dec. 14.00 - 16.00.
